Townsend AI Studio
Lauren Townsend · Advisor and builder · Solo

I left to build with small teams where the work ships fast.

I'm Lauren Townsend. Townsend AI Studio is me: an advisor and a builder, solo, on purpose.

I spent nine years building products at Amazon. At AWS, I took a new protocol from research to launch in 15 regions. In Amazon Kids, I ran parent engagement and launched four services from scratch that each grew past 500,000 monthly users. At Prime Video, I prototyped and shipped AI copilots that studio partners adopted, and built a pricing engine from an early model to global rollout.

Before that, a Wharton MBA. After it, I built a consumer app by myself, end to end: product, model, pipeline, front end, launch. That's how I know what “the whole thing” actually costs a small team, in hours and in dollars.

The part of that work I liked most was the part that looked least like big-company work: a small team, a real problem, something shipped by Friday. So that's what I do now.

What I believe

Positions you can disagree with.

Governance before tools

No sensitive data enters an AI system until the rules and the accounts exist.

It's about two weeks, and it's the part that gets skipped.

Not everything needs AI

Three of the tools in my most recent engagement are plain scripts.

If that's what removes the work, that's what I build.

The deliverable is capability

Most consultants leave behind a document.

The point is to leave behind a team that can do it without you.

Evidence over instinct

I'll cite the exact figure, and I'll tell you when I'm not sure.
